Let me ask you a question about your new product line.
You want to design a custom neoprene tote bag or laptop sleeve. You go online. You ask three different suppliers for a price quote.
Factory A says the bag costs $3.00.
Factory B says the bag costs $5.50.
Factory C says the bag costs $9.00.
You are completely confused. It is the exact same bag design. Why is the price so different?
Most brand owners make a huge mistake here. They choose the $3.00 bag to save money.
One month later, the bags arrive. They smell like toxic chemicals. The material is paper-thin. The zippers break on the first day.
You cannot sell them. You just lost all your money.
Why did this happen?
It happened because you did not know how to calculate the real cost of a neoprene bag.
Are you risking your brand’s reputation because you do not know what you are actually paying for?
Let us look at why prices change so much.
When you get a very cheap quote, the factory is cutting corners. They are hiding things from you.
When you get a very expensive quote, you might be talking to a trading company. A trading company is a hidden middleman. They do not own a factory. They take the real factory price and add a 30% or 40% markup just to send an email.
To get a fair price, you must understand the materials.
Let us look at the real cost differences in bag manufacturing.
| Cost Factor | The Cheap Factory Way | The Premium Factory Way | Result for Your Brand |
| Middleman Markup | High (Trading company tax) | Zero (Direct Factory) | You pay for quality, not middlemen |
| Rubber Material | Fake PU Foam (Fails quickly) | Real Neoprene (SBR/CR) | Bags feel premium and last for years |
| Material Thickness | 2mm (Too thin, no structure) | 4mm to 5mm (Thick & strong) | Bag protects items and stands up |
| Hardware | Unbranded plastic zippers | Heavy-duty metal zippers | Zero broken zippers, zero returns |
Do you see the risk? You cannot buy a luxury bag for a dollar. But you also should not pay extra money to a middleman.
How do you find the real, honest price of a custom bag?
You must ask the factory the right questions. You need to know the four main parts of the cost.
This is our core business. We are a custom neoprene manufacturer and supplier. We believe in total transparency. We want you to know exactly what you are buying.
Here is how we calculate the cost of a perfect neoprene bag:
1. The Rubber Type and Thickness
The rubber is the biggest cost. If you are making a basic promotional bag, we use SBR rubber. It is affordable and looks great. If you are making a high-end diving bag, we use CR rubber. It is more expensive, but it resists salt water and extreme weather.
Thickness also changes the price. A thick 5mm bag uses more raw material than a thin 2mm bag, so it costs slightly more.
2. The Printing Method
How do you want your logo to look?
If you want a simple, one-color logo, we use Screen Printing. It is very fast and very cheap.
If you want a beautiful, full-color tropical pattern all over the bag, we use HD Sublimation Printing. This uses advanced digital machines. It costs a little more, but the ink never fades or peels.
3. The Hardware and Sewing Time
Does your bag need a zipper? Does it need an adjustable shoulder strap? Metal D-rings cost more than cheap plastic rings. Also, a bag with many inner pockets takes our sewing team longer to make. More sewing time adds a small amount to the labor cost.
4. The Order Quantity (MOQ)
This is simple math. Setting up the printing machines takes time. If you order 100 bags, the setup cost is shared across 100 bags. If you order 5,000 bags, the setup cost is spread out, making each bag much cheaper.

Q1: Why is shipping not included in the bag quote?
Factory bag quotes are usually "EXW" (Ex Works) or "FOB" (Free On Board). This means the price covers making the bag and getting it to the local port. Ocean shipping and air freight prices change every week. We always calculate shipping as a separate, transparent cost based on the total weight of your order.
Q2: Will I get a discount if I order more bags next time?
Yes. As your brand grows, your orders get bigger. We offer tiered pricing. An order of 2,000 bags will have a lower unit price than an order of 200 bags because mass production is much more efficient.
Q3: Is it expensive to add my brand's custom tag to the bag?
No. Adding a woven brand label or a custom zipper pull is very cheap. It usually only adds a few cents to the cost of the bag. However, it makes your product look highly professional and expensive.
Q4: Do I have to pay for a sample before bulk production?
Yes, we charge a small sample fee to cover the time it takes to custom-print and sew a single unit. However, when you approve the sample and place your bulk order, we deduct the sample fee from your final invoice. The sample becomes free.
Q5: What is the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) for custom bags?
We love helping new brands test the market. Because we are the direct factory, we offer very flexible MOQs. You do not need to order 3,000 pieces. Email Kevin at kevin@neoprenecustom.com with your design, and we will give you a clear, honest quote for a small starting batch.
