To save money, many factories use Flatlock stitching. A flatlock machine overlaps two pieces of neoprene. It drives four thick needles completely through both pieces of rubber.
This creates a smooth, flat seam. It looks nice on the outside.
But it destroys the suit's performance in the water.
Those needles just punched thousands of holes straight through the waterproof neoprene. When the athlete swims, water pushes right through those holes.
This is called "flushing." Cold water enters. Body heat escapes. The suit fills with heavy water and creates massive hydrodynamic drag.

Next, we use a specialized sewing machine. The machine uses a curved needle. The needle only penetrates halfway into the neoprene sponge. It catches the thread and comes right back out.

3. The Liquid Tape Shield

We paint a thin, highly flexible layer of liquid urethane rubber directly over the outside of the stitched seam.

Q1: Does the liquid seam tape make the 2mm arms too stiff to swim?
No. We use a highly advanced, ultra-flexible liquid rubber formula. It stretches perfectly with the 2mm neoprene. The athlete will have complete freedom of movement in their shoulders and arms.
Q2: Why use 3mm and 2mm thicknesses together?
This is the optimal standard for triathlon racing. The 3mm neoprene on the chest and hips provides excellent buoyancy, lifting the swimmer higher in the water to reduce drag. The 2mm neoprene on the arms and shoulders provides extreme flexibility for a natural swimming stroke.
Q3: Can you put liquid tape on the inside of the suit instead?
Yes. However, for triathlon suits, we highly recommend external liquid tape. External tape creates a smoother outer surface, which improves hydrodynamics and speed. It also protects the threads from tearing when the athlete rips the suit off quickly during transition.
Q4: Will the liquid tape peel off in chlorinated swimming pools?
Our liquid seam tape is marine-grade and highly resistant to salt water and standard pool chemicals. It bonds permanently to the neoprene. It will not peel or flake off during normal triathlon training or racing.
